      Done about 500 miles in it now. If I had a manual I am sure I could tune out some of the annoying 'driver aids'.

      It certainly does sound like that is the reason and would be surprised if it didn't sustain some damage when the plug electrode dropped into the cylinder You could carry out a cylinder leak-down test to determine that it is valves or piston damage

      This is due to a internal module problem with the back up power ,check that the connection is good remove and clean with contact cleaner ,still having issue then have a new module installed and programmed This came from a Google search, worth checking all connections you can find under the bonnet, starting at the battery and work your way out from there. Don't forget to check earth leads and connections Also check the battery is strong, engine may start but volts could have dropped low when cranking the engine over and this could have flagged the fault code

      I would be tempted to spray WD40 (via thin tube that is supplied with it) liberally within any area you can see where it rotates and see if you can find a way to introduce it into the motor mechanism (but not the electric motor)
