  1. Have now run car for 3000 miles and no oil leaking into spark plug tubes, so the sealer has held, Wish I could now stop the auto-box from "crunching" when putting it into drive.!
  2. Nope, sorry but I have not found it yet.! I took out the brushes to have a look at them as they have done 98000 miles and they were as good as new, so no worries there. My big problem at the moment is a sticky auto shift lever. If I switch engine off then the lever slides through the gears like silk, with engine running it will slide from park into reverse but any other position it will crunch if I can get it to move at all, it's very similar to clutch drag but it doesn't have a clutch does it.?
  3. I have a P reg micra K11 auto and have recently noticed that No 2 spark plug is sitting in about an inch of engine oil , the oil coming up over the plug lead rubber cover. On removing the valve cover to replace the gaskets I found the steel tubes to be a very good fit in the head, didn't look as though it was leaking oil anywhere but the aluminium rocker cover had 4 oil seals fitted into the top , one for each plug tube, which fitted over the steel tube as you fit the cover. These seals are not supplied with the rocker cover gasket and there is no mention of these seals in the catalogue.! They look to be 27mm bore and 55 mm outside dia, and these are not standard sizes .! I have left the old seals in place and have used a good sealing compound around the contact faces, Has anybody had a problem like this and how did you cure it.? At the moment I don't know if I have cured the leak as I haven't had time to give it a good run yet. will let you know soon.
  4. Last year I sold an old (p reg) micra automatic to a neighbour, It had a new battery fitted and ran very well for its age. But now and again, say 4-5 months apart the battery is flat in the morning, and I mean flat.!! so flat the radio loses its code and there is nothing on the dash at all. The battery tests out OK nothing is left on, have checked the boot light, radio, which is ignition controlled anyway, sidelights, in fact all possible suspect drains, but nothing, it is now getting a bit embarrassing because I don't know what to try next, ? any ideas.??
  5. My almera has just started to rev up around 600 rpm extra each time I change gear, it's not me because I have tried taking my foot off the accelerator completely , makes no difference, any ideas please. ??
  6. I have just aquired a Micra K11 automatic with the CVT box from my daughter. Sometimes it refuses to start or turn over unless I jiggle the gear selector about so I guess the inhibitor switch is faulty, my question is, where is it ? I can't see it on the gearbox by the linkage.
