just been out and the car started first time can not work it out but when you turn it off it wont start again any one got any ideas please

i have a 54 plate micra that i am having starting problems with i had recovery out and he is saying its timing chain stretch i am trying to get it repaired but no one seems interested in the job because its engine out job can any one have any suggestion please desperate in leeds
