  1. Hi Rob....welcome to the Forum I would start at the battery and look at the condition and level of charge....if this drops, it can set off the alarm. Check also the connecting leads, terminals, etc. Otherwise, check door switches work by opening each door independently and seeing if the interior light comes on...this way you know the door sensor work.
  2. I believe there is supposed to be a small cover for the belt area but I removed mine and never put it back. The only thing it really does it stop any debris entering the area and potentially getting caught up in the rotating belt.
  3. As Jim Hall says, this is the most likely cause on the xtrail for lack of power if the engine is running well but runs out of steam
  4. That's bad news but on the upside...at least the camchain is now replaced and less likely to just fail in service so peace of mind there. If the cam sensor is faulty then this can flag a code but equally if the chain has any slack in it still then this also could be a likely cause
  5. Here is a review of the Qashqai for you to digest and see what you think of it https://www.whatcar.com/nissan/qashqai/hatchback/review/
  6. Hi Alex...welcome to the Forum The 370z is a great machine, would love one myself. Quite what they are like to own with maintenance costs and repairs, I'm not sure but hopefully someone on here can assist you further. Good to have you onboard and let us know how it goes with finding one. Cheers, Trevor
  7. Hi Stan...welcome to the Forum The Frontier is a superb car and I would imagine that the QashQai would be an ideal choice for a family car. Keep us updated with your purchase decision Cheers, Trevor
  8. Sounds like you may just have to live with it as there is no actual fault coming up.
  9. no problem...glad you have peace of mind now
  10. Hi Nick....welcome to the Forum How unfortunate, I would have denied it and blamed it on the wife, lol Bonnet is easy enough to unbolt and bolt back on but ensure there are two of you to hold it otherwise it may fall back onto the windscreen and damage that as well. Finding one in the right colour does ensure that you don't need to involve paintwork as this costs big money. Good luck and let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor
  11. Hi Andybaz....welcome to the Forum Any questions, just ask away...not sure we'll always have the correct answers though! Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  12. Plenty of kits available on eBay which should do the job https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xnissan+micra+k12+fog+lights.TRS0&_nkw=nissan+micra+k12+fog+lights&_sacat=0
  13. Hi....welcome to the Forum Not sure there is a security code for the Connect system. Not many vehicles have this setup nowadays as the security is integrated into the coding of the component to the vehicle.Chhad to disconnect the battery and power down the vehicle, saves any aggro with recoding the various systems afterwards.
  14. Hi .... welcome to the Forum Not sure whether the box would actually have the ratios that you would be after as the Quashqai is more of a multi-occupant cruiser in comparison to the Micra which is strictly speaking only designed as a town car. Playing with wheel and tyre sizes can have a marginal effect on economy and performance as another option. Cheers, Trevor
  15. I know what you mean about the read outs so thats why I always drive on the odometer where I know that I should get approximately 90 miles to £10 on my Honda CR-V and that is based around 45 miles to the gallon. Once you get used to driving by the miles rather than rely on the gauges then its a far better way of judging the accuracy
  16. Hi Mark...welcome to the Forum Can you say when the noise occurs, e.g. when accelerating or decelerating, turning left or right, in a certain gear? Cheers, Trevor
  17. Great to hear that you are happy with it and that the niggling faults aren't major ones. Look forward to reading your update
  18. Can't find much either on the web only this one https://www.justanswer.com/uk-nissan/33dj8-set-timing-nissan-qr20de.html Have you established that the chain has slipped ?
  19. HI Lisa....welcome to the Forum Your car should hold 46 litres in the tank....that's just over 10 gallons which means at 58mpg that you should be getting a readout of 580 miles range - if my maths are correct :-( https://www.carleasingmadesimple.com/data/nissan/juke/fuel-tank-capacity/ A lot of modern vehicles don't actually achieve the stated mpg that they are advertised as getting so it seems like you are currently getting only 41 to the gallon, which isn't good. Let us know how it all goes Cheers, Trevor
  20. Just read your blog....looks like you had a great time there. One of my favourite tracks but never had the nerve (or the right car) to take around it but love visiting the circuit to watch various race events. Great to see Moff out there after the accident, was she running better than before? any mods to do for the future after shaking her down?
  21. Hi Rod Does sound like a deep rattle...see how the flush works and let us know the result. As for replacement, should be able to do it in situ but may be a bit tight. Again, let us know how it all goes but if it isn't tappet rattle then I wouldn't delay doing the camchain as this is a common failure on some Nissans
  22. Hi....welcome to the Forum Sounds like it is a fault with the sound unit rather than a wiring issue. Quite possibly could be an instrument cluster issue but be aware of cost as this unit is the gateway for the CanBus and it could be quite expensive and would need to be coded in at a cost also. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers
  23. Hi Graeme.....welcome to the Forum That's very unfortunate, especially as you say it was below the maximum wade height...surely it should be able to handle that type of activity as it is sold as a Utility vehicle? Keep us informed on how you get on with it all Cheers, Trevor
  24. Hi Rod....welcome to the Forum I know what you mean about dealer prices and never buy any parts from them over all the years, especially as you can get parts of equal quality for a fraction of the price. Are you sure it is a hydraulic tappet and not timing chain/belt tensioner or associated components. I would usually just run a flush through the engine to clean out any oilways that may be sludged up and then put a quality oil back in...usually does the job. Let us know what you find Cheers, Trevor
  25. Hi...welcome to the Forum I would start with the power and earth connections and know that the unit powers up before connecting to the windows independently. The diagram is quite simple to follow but I would enlist the services of an auto electrician if you do not have the skills or equipment to carry out the job as this could result in damage to the vehicle electrical system. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
