moby Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I have a P reg micra K11 auto and have recently noticed that No 2 spark plug is sitting in about an inch of engine oil , the oil coming up over the plug lead rubber cover. On removing the valve cover to replace the gaskets I found the steel tubes to be a very good fit in the head, didn't look as though it was leaking oil anywhere but the aluminium rocker cover had 4 oil seals fitted into the top , one for each plug tube, which fitted over the steel tube as you fit the cover. These seals are not supplied with the rocker cover gasket and there is no mention of these seals in the catalogue.! They look to be 27mm bore and 55 mm outside dia, and these are not standard sizes .!I have left the old seals in place and have used a good sealing compound around the contact faces,Has anybody had a problem like this and how did you cure it.?At the moment I don't know if I have cured the leak as I haven't had time to give it a good run yet. will let you know soon.
moby Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Have now run car for 3000 miles and no oil leaking into spark plug tubes, so the sealer has held, Wish I could now stop the auto-box from "crunching" when putting it into drive.!
