kevin01041961 Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Hi, I've broken the indicator on my pathfinder, I've got a genuine replacement but how do you fix, I'm frightened of breaking the mirror and getting a larger bill any help please
Trevor Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Hi Kevin...welcome to the club! Found some info about the procedure but beware...most of the people attempting this procedure ended up breaking the mirror glass so may be worth letting the dealers/specialists do it as it may be cheaper than replacing a broken mirror glass? Quote Put a piece of cardboard against the bottom edge of the mirror housing, then use a filling knife or similar against the cardboard, and carefully ease the mirror glass out, watch out for the heated wire/terminals, remove them from the glass. You should now see the screws that hold the lens in, i think they're torx fitting?Carefully remove the screws, and the lens should come out.Reverse of above to re-assemble Mirror glass will pop out, but just dont make the mistake i did and got to heavy handed with it and it cracked!once the mirror is out the way then you will see the torx bits that hold everything together, also there is a torx screw on the underside of the wing mirror housing right near where it connects to the swivle arm that holds it to the truck. once all the torx bits are out then the mirror bracket should swing (or if you have electric folding mirrors, hit the button to close them) inwards and leave the housing in place making for easy access to the puddle lamp and indicator housing! Good luck, and let us know how you get on Regards, Trevor - Admin
kevin01041961 Posted June 10, 2016 Author Posted June 10, 2016 Ok well I did it.it took 2 hours and the advice was spot on nearly! Once you get the mirror out you do detach the centre power unit, then you have to remove the rear plastic of the mirror to get to the 2 screws that hold the light.what a performance but it's done that's the main thing My thanks for the advice it was spot on
Trevor Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Hi Kevin, Thanks for the feedback, very handy to pass onto other members with the same problem. Regards, Trevor
