Carl Mac Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Hi to all. I have just bought a second hand radio / CD player from another 2006 X Trail owner as mine refused to eject CD's anymore. Having spoke to several car audio "Specialists " none of them seem to know if the replacement radio can be re-programed to work in my car, the Lady I bought it from had her's replaced with a DAB radio but cant find the radio code for the one I bought from her. After fitting it and switching on the screen reads "WAIT" for about 30 seconds then reads "SECURE" ...... After that I cant do anything with it. One of the car audio "specialists" I spoke to has told me that the NATS system will NOT allow you to use a radio from another car ? Neither can the replacement radio be re-programed to work in my car ? I find this a bit unbelievable, surely there must be a way of making the radio work in my car ? Can anyone help in any way ? I live on the Wirral and can be contacted on 07745477800 Many thanks, Carl.
Trevor Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Not entirely sure if this is the case as I thought most radios could be recoded. You used to be able to put a radio in the fridge overnight to clear the code in the good old days. I replaced the radio in mine with an aftermarket one and it worked great....had to buy an adapter to connect everything up but worked a treat....go to Halfords as they have most of the leads, etc in stock and also some great deals on aftermarket stereos
Carl Mac Posted March 9, 2018 Author Posted March 9, 2018 Hi Trevor. Many thanks for your response regarding my radio question. Good news ! Everyone take note..... I called "Nis- spec" in Welshpool, they have been very helpful in the past, (John & Hillary) Hillary gave me the details and contact number for a gentleman in Shrewsbury who they send ALL of their Nissan radio's to for recoding as they specialize in breaking Nissan's so always have a lot of used parts including radio's. The gentleman trades under the following :- Les Evans & Son. His details are... Whitchurch Road, Shrewsbury. Contact number is 01743-450457. I rang Les this morning and he said if I wanted to drive over to him, he could sort it while I waited so that exactly what I did. It's a really pleasant drive from the Wirral to Shrewsbury along the A41 and A49, Les and his Son have a fantastic little setup with used radio's a plenty too, all recoded for most vehicles and going by some of the prices I was getting quoted he wasn't that expensive. If anyone else has any problem give Les a call, I'm sure he would also be happy to have you use the postman if he's too far from you. He can also supply you with a new radio, DAB radio, speakers, hands free kits and C.B radio's and he can also offer a fitting service ! He's a really nice guy too. All the very best to you all. Carl Mac.
