Quasqui driver Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 Hi. Just wanted to know if anyone has come across this before. In May2021 mechanic said he replaced my rear calipers(both sides) and rear brake pads. I have driven approx 1500 miles sinse then, maybe using the car every other day for short journeys. This week I have put my car back in as getting the squealing noise from the back. The mechanic has said the car needs new rear rake pads and both rear calipers. So basically the same job twice in 4 months. I am not a fast driver and don't do a lot of driving as working from home. Maybe use the car every other day for grocery shopping or short runs dropping my daughter wherever she is going. Not sure it is possible for the above to happen and was hoping to hear from anyone who may have experienced this or something like it. Thanks
Trevor Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 I would definitely take the car to another garage because it is unlikely that it would require new pads and calipers if they have already been replaced (supposedly). More than likely if he did replace the calipers and pads then the carriers may not have been coated with copper grease in the correct places and leads to pads slightly catching in the guides and causing the occasional squealing noise.
