jimboselecta Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Hi. I have a 2013 Qashqai 360 (J10?) about a year ago it developed a shake that feels like it's coming from the middle front of the car when accelerating through 40-50mph. I've had tracking and balancing checked and wheels and tyres all ok. I've had a few opinions from mechanics with the latest being drive shafts, which are a bit of a pricey job so if I go for getting that fixed I want to make sure it's the right thing. Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it or have any other advice? Also, is there any benefit in taking it to Nissan to look at vs my normal local garage? Thanks
Trevor Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 First thoughts would have been wheel balance but other static/dynamic imbalances can give these symptoms For the driveshafts, an old trick is to put a jubliee clip (and sometimes a washer or coin underneath the clip if necessary) on the shaft and road test, if necessary, loosen one at a time and rotate slightly to place the weight over a different area to see if this balances the shaft. If it makes no difference then its not the driveshafts I would however take a look at the tyres on the front and rear by jacking up each corner at a time and spinning the wheel to see if the tyre is out of shape or has a bulge in it the tread area.
jimboselecta Posted June 21, 2023 Author Posted June 21, 2023 Thanks - I'll give the jubilee clip a shot and see if that tells me anything. It's at the garage today for service/mot so have asked them to check it out too. 1
