I am so disappointed with the service I have received from Nissan.
My engine died on the M4 - the smoke was horrendous and it was so dangerous.
The repair has cost me £6500 and despite weeks and weeks of discussions with Nissan Customer Service, I have been offered absolutely zero goodwill towards the cost - £0!
I can't believe it. The reasons I've been given are:
1. Out of warranty - but the car is only 5 years old and there have only been  x2 owners (myself and a reverend!) I have looked after the car well - I'm a teacher and mum of 3.
2. The mileage - Nissan customer service got it wrong and stated that my mileage was 67000 but it is only 62000 which is average.
3. Services taking place at other garages other than Nissan - I have serviced it regularly with a reputable garage local to me and it is not fair to dictate it has to be Nissan. The last service was in November, 8 months before the engine died so it had fresh oil.

When the lead mechanic at Nissan Wellington assessed the engine he stated that he didn't need to look at it in depth as the rings had let go and this was a common fault with the 1.2 engine of this age. He also told me not to worry as the new engine replacement would be "modified so would not suffer the same issue".
This is a problem well known to Nissan.

I am extremely upset that there is no goodwill at all and everyone I have spoken to about this is shocked.

I want some goodwill towards this high cost which is not my fault.

When our caseworker phoned us to tell us zero goodwill, we were upset and she laughed!

Any advice??

I would go to an ombudsman / citizens advice as you say there is a known fault with the engine and should last longer than it has
Possibly the best way forward is sourcing a rebuilt /reconditioned engine fitted by an independent garage as it would be far cheaper
