ChrisKA Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 When using footbrake on my Nissan Micra K13 there’s a continuous clicking or knocking sound take foot off brake pedal the sound goes, is this normal, it’s done it since getting the car over a year now, just passed MOT.
Trevor Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 This is something you should refer to a garage in case it is a worn suspension or brake component which could be dangerous
ChrisKA Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 Thanks Trevor it’s weird as it’s been doing this since I bought the car 3 years ago it’s passed MOTs
Trevor Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 sometimes, pads that are loose in the caliper carrier (lack of fitting shims) can cause this noise. Also, suspension bushes which allow minimal amount of play can also cause a noise when braking. I would at least check the pads and also any mountings and bolts in the brakes and suspension
ChrisKA Posted October 17, 2024 Author Posted October 17, 2024 Thanks Trevor the clicking sound is when stood still at lights etc. while I have my foot on the brake, when I release the brake pedal to pull away of put handbrake on the clicking sound goes.

Hi Chris This sounds like the baring in the banana arm on my 350Z. 1
ChrisKA Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 I’ve just realised it does the same knocking sound when reversing too.
Leveller Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Did you resolve this? I've had something very similar which we seem to have resolved.
ChrisKA Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 Leveller no still not worked out what’s causing it but I’ve also noticed the same knocking sound when in reverse gear.
Leveller Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Chris KA. We had the knocking sound when the car was stationary and put into D or R but not when it was in P with just the engine ticking over. The knocking also tended to stop once the car started moving up to speed. After some investigation we found that as the revs lowered when put into D or R it was causing the air intake pipe to vibrate and knock against the engine. It has been zip tied to the cable loom just behind it and the knocking has now stopped. Hopefully yours may be as simple.
ChrisKA Posted Monday at 11:11 AM Author Posted Monday at 11:11 AM Cheers Leveller I’ll have a look at that it’s driving me up the wall lol only does it when stationary with foot on brake and when in reverse.
