Hi,

I am new to the forum.

My friend has an X-Trail 2018 and the battery constantly rapidly drains. A full charge barely lasts a day. The problem has been investigated by his local Nissan dealership.

- They checked the condition of the battery which is less than 6 months old. No problem.

- They put the vehicle on the diagnostic tester. No fault codes.

The dealership has drawn a blank on the problem.

I would very much appreciate any advice on further investigations I can assist with in order to help my friend. He is a doctor in our local hospital and this problem is playing havoc with his morning routine traveling to work!

Very many thanks in advance.

Hi....welcome to the club

Sometimes the alternator can go faulty and cause a large current drain as it is wired to the battery so quite possible this could the reason for discharging.

I would find an old school independent garage who can use a multimeter and diagnose an excessive electrical current draw (pulling fuses until the current drain is found and thats where the problem will be)

In the meantime you can lift the bonnet and look underneath for any earth cables from the battery to the chassis and the transmission that have corrosion on the terminals or have snapped (common fault on older XTrails
